Due to insistent public demand, attention Jessica Mackie :)
and my daughter Sarah- she kept nagging me about it, I decided to post this recipe of mine- I called it 'cupboard pasta' because the ingredients that I used were the ones available in my cupboard at that time, canned goods and all - nothing flash AND the simplest procedure one could get , so really great for first time cooks. BUT despite the non-gourmet style, my kids ( and their friends ) juusst love it. So, here it goes-
INGREDIENTS: 1 tin of Hormel meatloaf, cut into small cubes
1 bottle and 1/2 (so better buy 2 bottles) of extra garlic pasta sauce ( i used the Dolmio brand- it doesn't matter what brand really as long as it's infused with garlic flavour, that'd be fine )
butter 1/4 c, olive oil 4 tbsp.
chopped onions, about 3 small heads
Parmesan cheese, any style
Chili sauce (Crystal brand) about 3/4 of a tbsp. or depends on how hot you like it
Pasta, cooked and well drained, about 500 gms.
HOW TO:
- Fry Hormel til brown but not toasted, ok? separate.
- Saute' onions in butter and oil, then add the sauce.
- Season with salt, add parmesan cheese at this stage about 1/4 cup, and lastly add the chili sauce. Simmer.
- Then add the pasta and fried Hormel, mix well and sprinkle with minced parsley or better yet tear up some fresh basil leaves. Turn heat off, we don't want to wilt the basil !
That' s it ! pretty simple, aye ?
